Matilda has always been about giving
Matilda Hospital began as a gift to Hong Kong. We uphold that tradition in everything we do, and especially in our wide range of charitable initiatives. You are invited to contribute or become personally involved in our work within our communities. We are committed and always open to new ways to help.
Connecting with our communities
Our food services team and staff from the hospital have supported those less fortunate by preparing and serving dinner for underprivileged people, making home visits to the elderly and running winter clothing drives for refugees.
Supplies, uniforms, blankets and medical equipment are re-distributed through Crossroads so that they can benefit those around the world who are in need. For migrant workers who become pregnant and are receiving help through Pathfinders we regularly provide antenatal care and health education programmes and have volunteers who knit baby hats for the newborns.
Those men and women of the armed forces who served Hong Kong are not forgotten and we gladly support the annual British Legion's poppy appeal to raise funds for those in need.
The Matilda sailboat can be seen on the waters around the island enabling those with intellectual and physical disabilities to gain confidence, skills and a sense of independence under the training and supervision of Sailability, this also opens up to them a world of competitive sport.
Caring for our environment
Along with the work we do within Matilda to reduce our impact on the environment we also support the Green Power initiatives with staff joining in events to raise funds for environmental projects.
Education
Education is a an integral part of our learning as an organisation and we promote this through a broad range of projects including work experience, professional internships, company based health talks, free biometric screening, welcoming primary students to learn about hospitals and health topics, imparting industry knowledge with MBA students and sharing our part in history with community interest groups.
Matilda Children's Foundation
In 2003 we established the Matilda Children’s Foundation to raise money for life-changing surgery for children in need. Matilda doctors and teams volunteer to help the foundation, donating time, expertise, money and resources for surgery.
Every two years in December we organise a Carols by Candlelight event to raise funds for the Foundation.
