Laboratory tests
Matilda offers a wide range of clinical tests and our laboratory team is dedicated to keeping on the forefront of modern clinic advancements. Our high-tech open-plan laboratory gives practitioners direct access to the very latest in diagnostics technology. A networked health management system rapidly delivers results to key clinics and departments.
Sophisticated diagnostics
With advanced technology, digital networking and experienced technicians, The Matilda Imaging Department is equipped to provide fast, accurate diagnostics.
An x-ray examination can quickly and effectively evaluate internal parts of the body such as bones and lungs.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans make images of specific internal structures to help doctors detect and determine the presence and severity of a wide range of medical problems and injuries.
During the scan, the patient is subject to magnetic fields and radio frequencies to produce high definition anatomical and functional images. The whole body can be scanned, or specific regions, such as head, neck, spine, the musculoskeletal system, or the cardiac system.
Computed tomography uses special equipment to obtain cross-sectional pictures of the body. Our CT scanner enables high definition 3D or multiplanar reconstructions.
Clinical applications include coronary angiography, virtual colonoscopy, other CT angiography (cerebral, carotid and renal angiography).
Mammography examines the breast via a low-dose x-ray system. It plays a central part in early detection of breast cancers, which can reduce mortality.
The simple procedure is administered by a female technician. We use an advanced, high-definition full field, digital mammography system that enables a precise screening process.
An echocardiogram applies ultrasound to provide a fast, accurate assessment of the overall health of the heart. The non-invasive test enables a cardiologist to assess the heart valves and the degree of heart muscle contraction.
This scan reveals the size and shape of the heart, its pumping capacity, blood flow pattern, and the location and extent of any damage to heart tissues.
This technique focuses high-frequency sound waves to provide live images of internal organs, muscles and tendons. It shows movement, size and structure of the body's internal organs.
Ultrasound has many clinical applications. Our well-equipped specialist team provide a broad range of ultrasound examinations and associated services, including for pregnancy, diagnostics and guide procedures.
Most often performed on the lower spine and hips, DEXA is a simple, quick and noninvasive procedure to assess bone mineral density.
It is the most accurate method available for the diagnosis of osteoporosis and is also considered an accurate estimator of fracture risk.
Our Imaging Department offers the full range of non-invasive services while our in-town medical centre supports X-ray, mammography, ultrasound and echocardiogram services.
